Autism Services and Supports

The Arc Rockland is committed to promoting lifelong learning and skills development to all individuals with developmental disabilities regardless of age or level of disability. Our philosophy is grounded in the belief that all people diagnosed with developmental disabilities can and will make progress when given optimal supports and services

Our agency is dedicated to providing comprehensive and intensive supports and services to people with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and their families across the lifespan. Through detailed assessments and screenings, individuals with ASD receive appropriate and effective evidence-based supports to enhance and improve their lives and the lives of their families. Emphasis is placed on the development of appropriate and effective communication skills, interpersonal and social skills, prevocational, vocational skills and community integration.

The Arc Rockland takes a person-centered approach and promotes skill development based on an individual’s preferences, desires, life goals, skill level, learning styles. We embrace a variety of therapeutic evidence-based interventions including Applied Behavior Analysis  with an emphasis on Verbal Behavior. All supports are provide within a positive  framework which emphasizes building on the strengths and interests of each person. Our mission is to provide all individuals with ASD and their families the support needed to reach their fullest potential and live meaningful lives  including community involvement.

According to the U.S Centers for Disease Control (CDC) current statistics, approximately 1 in  68 individuals are diagnosed with ASD.  The Arc Rockland is committed to effectively responding to the need to  provide supports to these individuals and their families through a diverse range of services including Early Intervention screening, assessments and programming, preschool services, a school age educational program  and specialized day habilitation programs.
