Where the Action Is—that’s where ARC Day Services spends its time. Rockland County offers an array of opportunities for education, recreation and socialization within the community-at-large. Pre-vocational training and volunteerism are part of the experience. ARC’s Franklin Square campus in Pearl River and ARC’s Congers campus are dual headquarters from which people branch out to participate in events and activities throughout the county.
Around Town—Whether it is an exercise class at the ‘Y,’ a dance class at the local dance studio, weekly horseback riding lessons, volunteering with Meals on Wheels, Keep Rockland Beautiful or one of the other many local organizations, people who receive services through ARC of Rockland are an integral part of the county's fabric.
The Road to Success—Franklin Square gives post high-school graduates a chance to prepare for future employment or active volunteerism. An individualized curriculum emphasizes language skills, physical fitness, the arts and computer technology. Training in the food service industry, retail and office work are the foundations upon which students build skills and refine choices. ARC’s Day Services Department works hand-in-hand with ARC’s Career Services to maximize employment potential.
Higher Education—ARC staff members guide eligible students through the enrollment process and accompany them to credit or non-credit classes at area colleges.
Independence and individualization—For some this might mean college classes, for others it means learning how to cook a meal, for still others it entails mastering public transportation. Whatever the goal, ARC helps each person live life with dignity, purpose, joy and a sense of accomplishment.
Icing on the Cake of Life—These are the hobbies, activities and events that fill our leisure hours and enrich our minds and bodies. From the athletic to the artistic ARC offers year round opportunities with the focus on socialization, recreation, creativity and fun. |
