ARC of Rockland Board of Directors
From The Board |
|
We put heart, soul and elbow grease into all that we do as a volunteer Board of Directors. Working hand-in-hand with the professional ARC staff, we make it our business to understand every facet of the agency - from Early Intervention services for infants and pre-schoolers to programs provided for senior citizens.

Beyond a thorough knowledge of the services offered by our own agency, we expect our Board members to keep abreast of developments within the overall field of developmental disabilities. We receive periodic training concerning topics of particular import or interest, and we regularly read materials provided by the ARC professional staff on issues pertinent to the operation of this agency or the broader field of developmental disabilities.
As required by ARC by-laws, 75% percent of our Board members are blood relatives of people with developmental disabilities. This ensures that we truly understand the challenges and the joys faced by the families we serve.
Our Board of Directors meets monthly at ARC Headquarters in Congers. Individual Board members chair or sit on the various committees that help to steer the scope and direction of the agency. In addition, we encourage our Board members to attend events and activities sponsored by ARC of Rockland. We expect active participation among all members of our Board of Directors. Our Board members represent a broad range of ages and span the scope of professions. We thrive on the interchange of ideas and opinions derived from the diversity of our membership.
To be a member of the ARC of Rockland Board of Directors requires commitment, determination, foresight and flexibility. |
