At ARC of Rockland's Senior Center, everyone is young at heart. These are the years to enjoy favorite hobbies or to try something new. This is a time for creativity and exploration—time to solidify friendships and meet new people—time to smell the roses while maintaining good health practices and old friendships. |
| Located at ARC headquarters, 25 Hemlock Drive, Congers, NY, ARC's beautiful and spacious Senior Center offers a range of senior activities including music, art, crafts, exercise, dancing, gardening and cooking. |
| Trips to sites of historical or recreational interest as well as purposeful visits to other senior centers, libraries, and nursery schools throughout Rockland County keep seniors active, engaged and involved. |
It's never too late to learn. Guest speakers include experts on health care, the environment, safety, government and politics. Question and answer sessions engender lively discussions. Visitors from local schools and organizations are welcome guests. |
| Seniors value the gift of giving. Children, the infirm and veterans are among the recipients of quilts, cards and other items made by talented ARC Seniors. Some seniors volunteer their time at ARC of Rockland's Prime Time for Kids Early Learning Center in New City where there is no such thing as a generation gap. |
| Physical and occupational therapies are available for those who need assistance in maintaining mobility and performing the activities of daily living. Nutrition practices, grooming and health updates keeps everyone on their toes. To learn more about ARC HealthResources, click here. |
| The ARC Senior Center kitchen is a bustle of activity as men and women test new recipes and enjoy the sense of togetherness that comes from preparing and sharing a meal with friends. Staff members and seniors enjoy holiday celebrations with dishes representing a variety of interests and cultures. |
| College and graduate students are encouraged to apply for internships at ARC Senior Center. Interns in recreational therapy are in particular demand. |
Concert events, parties for every occasion, bingo, sing alongs, dances... these are a few of the ways that seniors enjoy themselves, and keep thinking and planning for tomorrow while spreading smiles today. |
| Seniors speak up about their needs and rights during regular meetings designed to bolster self assurance and influence the world view of people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities. |
