What We Do
What is ARC of Rockland?

ARC is both an advocacy organization and a service provider for people with developmental disabilities from infancy through the senor years. We provide an array of services that span the ages and take into account the needs of every individual and his or her family.

Offerings include: Early Intervention; a pre-school; day care center; a unique program utilizing applied behavior analysis for children on the autistic spectrum; year 'round teen programs; a fantastic lakeside summer camp for tweens and teens including crafts, sports, trips, swimming and boating; residential opportunities; employment training and job placement; a senior center and family support services.

ARC HealthResources, a state-of-the art medical facility, provides primary care and therapeutic services at ARC's Congers, NY campus. The compassionate and highly skilled staff of HealthResources gives people with developmental disabilities exceptional health care in a warm and supportive environment.

The ARC staff and Board of Directors are committed to the concept of inclusion - within the public educational system and the community-at-large. ARC is responsive to the needs of the people it serves. Franklin Square Discovering Possibilities - ARC's post high school campus in Pearl River is just one example of a program created because families voiced a desire for a college-like facility for people with developmental disabilities.

ARC offers a unified voice on the state and national level. With a total of 10,500 plus members, ARC of Rockland maintains the second largest membership in its state association, NYSARC. These numbers are reflected in the number of representatives ARC is allotted on the NYSARC government body. This gives ARC of Rockland a strong voice in NYSARC's legislative platform and in all advocacy efforts on behalf of people with developmental disabilities. NYSARC is the New York State umbrella organization of which there are 57 chapters throughout the state. NYSARC joins with other ARCs throughout the country in The ARC of US, a nation-wide advocacy group representing the needs of people with disabilities in the United States.

ARC of Rockland helps people understand that people with developmental disabilities are people with abilities.
