NYSARC Trusts Help Fund Supported Programs Statewide

The trustees of the NYSARC Trusts authorized restricted grants from the NYSARC Trusts Remainder Funds to be paid to individual NYSARC Chapters for the exclusive purposes of funding Chapters’ guardianship program operating expenses. At The Arc Rockland, funds were used for the salary of the Guardianship Coordinator, to purchase holiday gifts for the five individuals for whom ARC serves as primary guardian. The Guardianship Coordinator visited each person monthly, attended all team meetings, participated in the Southeast Regional Guardianship meetings and facilitated monthly Guardianship Committee meetings in compliance with all NYSARC policies and procedures.

The trustees of the NYSARC, Inc. Trust approved a remainder fund grant of $12,500 per chapter to provide recreational opportunities for the people they support. At ARC of Rockland, funds were used to help defray the cost of the annual Stardust Ball, an event attended by 296 men and women. The Stardust Ball at the Hilton Pearl River featured dining and dancing. Funds were also used towards Yoga and Art classes within the community and at ARC of Rockland.

A total of $2,980,000 in remainder grants was awarded in 2016 to support both recreation and guardianship statewide. NYSARC Trust Services administers supplemental needs trusts that enable people with disabilities to remain in their home and community while retaining Medicaid services and other government benefits.
