Psychologist

PSYCHOLOGIST

10 hours per week

POSITION SUMMARY: 

Under the supervision of the Managing Director of Clinical Services, is responsible for providing clinical and psychological services in The Arc Rockland’s Residential Services Program as well as Arc Health Resources’ medical practice.  Oversees supports provided by Residential Behavioral Specialists and may supervise students and volunteers. Participants as directed by Managing Director of Clinical Services or designee in committees, workgroups and other agency or departmental activities.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Education:  Doctoral Degree in Psychology

Minimum Experience:

  • Five years of experience delivering psychological services to adults in particular those with developmental disabilities and related comorbidities. 
  • Experience providing and/or overseeing Behavioral support plans and related services. 
  • The psychologist should be familiar with OPWDD regulations as it relates to providing clinical and behavioral supports to adults in residential services.

Required Certification/Registration: NYS Licensed Psychologist

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Administers, scores, analyzes and interprets various psychological tests such as intelligence, aptitude, interest, capacity, vocational, educational, and personality tests.
  • Interviews, participants and integrates social, medical, and psychological data into an assessment of individual’s intellectual and adaptive functioning levels as needed.
  • Participates, when appropriate, in development of written, detailed, specific and individualized habilitation and behavioral support programs that are designed to maximize each individual’s development in key skill areas.
  • Conducts and / or oversees individual and group psychotherapy as well as support and psychoeducational groups.
  • Maintains all documentation as required for each visit.  Maintains documentation of individuals discussed with supervisee.  Makes appropriate recommendations for services and supports as part of the team. Consults with staff; oversees the design and implementation of behavioral support plans for participants as needed.
  • Participates as part of interdisciplinary team and other meetings for the purposes of planning, implementation, treatment and diagnosis of participants. Is an integral member of the Human Rights Committee and the Morbidity, Mortality and Recovery Workgroup.
