Physical Therapy Assistant

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Physical Therapy Assistant will serve as a member of the clinical team. They will provide appropriate treatment interventions within their scope of practice. This work is performed collaboratively with and under the supervision of a Physical Therapist. Must maintain valid licensure and certification.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Education: Associate degree in Physical Therapy

Minimum Experience: 1 year clinical/professional experience as a Physical Therapy Assistant.

Experience working with Physical/Intellectual disabilities preferred.

Required Certification/Registration: New York State Department of Education licensure and registration. 

Hourly Rate: $32.00-$35.00

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Maintains NYS licensure by completing the required CEU’s.
  • Carries out medically prescribed treatments by delivering individualized therapy services to patients in accordance with their established treatment plan.
  • Maintains records of Physical Therapy treatment for each program participant receiving PT services.
  • Completes daily notes and treatment plans (Semi-Annual and Annual) and recommends therapeutic changes as appropriate.
  • Collaborates and communicates frequently with patient’s Care Team (ie: Residence, family, other members of clinical team, day program) to ensure quality of care and carryover. This may include attending Life Plan meetings and Intake meetings.
  • Maintains a clean, orderly, and safe work area.
  • Make adaptive equipment/DME recommendations.
  • Collaborates with Article 16 Medical Director for DME/adaptive equipment prescription requests.
  • Participates in in-service education and training programs. Attends Clinical Team meetings as needed.
  • Has ability to utilize different frame of reference for treatment as needed (i.e.: Developmental, Neurodevelopmental, Cognitive disabilities, Sensory integration).
  • Collaborates with PT regarding goal writing, treatment plan updates, treatment interventions and discharge planning.
  • Is familiar with and adheres to all HIPPA related policies and procedures safeguarding the protected health information (“PHI”) of all patients.
